You can’t go to war and come back home the same person who left. Those of us at home hope that the one who went to fight for us will return unchanged somehow. But the soldier is the one who will always hold the secrets of war. What was seen and what was done marks that young man or young woman forever. The memories may haunt them but they should never doubt that they will always be heroes to us.
