Filmed in Baton Rouge & Ascension, Netflix debuts trailer for crime thriller 'The Highwaymen' By: Jeremy Krail February 20, 2019 Excerpt: BATON ROUGE - The film's production first made local headlines last year when crews set up shop in Ascension Parish, complete with an artificial town straight out of the 1930s. It moved in March from Donaldsonville to Baton Rouge, where filming took place at the old Governor's Mansion. The production also had stops in Laplace, Shreveport and parts of Tangipahoa Parish.

Travis Hamer commented: Big thanks to Netflix for hosting a screening of their new movie The Highwaymen at the Alamo Drafthouse last night for my family. Also big thanks to the director, John Lee Hancock, the writer John Fusco and historian Jodie Jody Edward Ginn, PhD for being there to share the movie and their insights on making it. The movie, about my great-grandfather Frank Hamer chasing down Bonnie and Clyde is something my family has wanted to see happen for longer than I have been alive. They have done a masterful job with the movie, which will be premiering March 29th on Netflix. Kevin Costner truly embodies Frank Hamer, and makes the pictures I've seen and stories I've heard of him come to life. So one final HUGE thanks to the cast and crew of the film. We could not ask for a better presentation of this story. I can't express how much this means to my family. It was a night we will never forget. (Posted January 17th)
