Excerpt from article by Jay Vise, entitled Kevin Costner’s anti-oil machines to be deployed: John Houghtaling, Costner's chief partner in the project, told WWL First News that the oil company has ordered 32 of the devices for use in the Gulf of Mexico. "In a matter of weeks, we can be manufacturing ten of these a week, so we're hoping by the first of August to have all 32 of these things in the Gulf." Meanwhile Costner's company is moving toward leasing 16 more oil sucking and separating machines to Plaquemines Parish officials directly. They say if BP won't pay for that, they may sell the oil local officials pull from the water and fund the machines that way. AUDIO clip of John Houghtaling at the following link:

Tweets from weeddude, in paragraph form, starting June 9, 2010, about KC interview: Off to bed. Early day tomorrow. Costner scheduled to call me at 9.30 am! Hate mornings! Costner is running late. Off to the Cypress Cove Lodge to read up on a few items before my interview with Kevin Costner Just finished my Kevin Costner interview. I'll be posting shortly my notes. I also have call into #BP's COO Doug Suttles to reply to a few questions I have after speaking with Mr. Costner. I'm working on my notes now. I'll get them up shortly in regards to my Kevin Costner interview. Costner Interview: Kevin Costner: "Im not trying to be some guy coming in on a white horse to save the day." "However if you want to know what my machine can do I will tell you this. When there is oil in the water I can get that out." Mr. Costner informed me that #BP has ordered 32 of his centrifuge filtration machines. An Aerospace engineer riding in the car with Mr. Costner said the V-20 unit can handle 12,000/gal of water an hour. Mr Costner: "BP's COO Doug Shuttles told me that my machine will be on everyboat, so I am going to hold him to that." Mr. Costner talked very candidly about not wanting his machine to fail as this was designed as a first response unit. Mr Costner has brought in experts from Aerospace and UCLA to help work on the Ocean Therapy Solutions project Mr Costner joked with me that I was his first interview in 5 weeks and I should feel damn lucky and then laughed. Mr Costner: "I've been very reluctant to do interview and wanted to just keep working on the solution." Mr Costner also joked with me about his kids. "Daddy are you as smart as all these guys?" his kids have started asking. These machines are designed only to filter out the oil from the water. Mr Costner is working on other applications for beach areas and the marsh lands. Kevin Costner: 'Im tired to be honest with you. I've sang this song along time." was his reply about all the red tape. .I dont think Kevin feels his solution is the only one out there, but one that does work was sitting idle. Aerospace Engineer Andrea Quinpero "These machines were built with robust material." My interview ended with Mr. Costner inviting me to New Orleans next week if he makes it back into town for a 'coke.' Weeddude @GregDuncan Interviewed Kevin Costner today. Nice chap. He might save the world with his water/oil machine. Weeddude's twitter page:
